Some suggested steps to prevent water intrusion and damage during construction of your bathroom

Shower line entire shower making sure overlap is correct
Use kiln dry wood
Underlap floor outside of shower with liner
Only use screws to secure backerboard
Shim top plate of 2x4 threshold
Pea gravel around shower drain
Test pan
Use silicone type colored grout on all seam lines
Use plastic niche with liner behind
Use red guard on penetrations and seams
Use sealer in, or/and on grout
Float walls and floor when needed to make all level and straight
